Home and Contents – Carers
Although many Home and Contents insurance policies include public liability insurance, they usually do not cover any claims arising out of a business.
As family day care is a home-based business, new carers should notify their current insurance company that they are now operating a business from their home. To be certain that their current policy will continue to cover their home and contents carers should request and receive a written endorsement from their insurer. This endorsement should state that the insurer recognises that a family day care business is being conducted from the insured premises and that cover is not compromised as a result.
FDCA has negotiated a specific endorsement which covers the operation of a family day care service from the home – irrespective of whether the home is owned or rented. This written endorsement, coupled with competitive rates, flexible payment options and a choice of policies, makes this insurance a must for family day care carers*.
A family day care endorsed Home and Contents policy makes good business sense*. What’s more, there is a choice of policies:
| • |
Extra Care – standard policy |
| • |
Elite – includes Accidental Damage (new for old) replacement cover |
Both policies are discounted by at least 10% through FDCA.
